A traditional spirit infused with juniper berries originating in Slovakia and Italy.
A scent that will transport you to a pine forest with a taste that gets you back on your feet.
A popular alcoholic beverage made by vapor infusion with juniper berries during distillation, without any added sugar or artificial flavors. According to The Dictionary of the Slovak Language, borovicka derives its name from the Slovak word for juniper, borievka. Borovicka harks back to the 16th century, when this beverage was produced in the Habsburg Monarchy's county of Liptov, today part of northern Slovakia. It was exported throughout the whole Habsburg Monarchy, particularly to Vienna and Budapest. It was transported southward principally via rafts floating down the river Vah.
The distinctive character of this coniferous berry spirit delivers a refreshing effect that makes it an irreplaceable ingredient in a wide range of cocktails such as the Bora Bora (Juniper brandy, Pear brandy and tonic) and particularly the distinctive Junipelder:
5cl Zufanek Borovicka
2cl elderflower syrup
juice of ½ lime
Mix in a tall collins glass, top with ginger ale and garnish with 3 cucumber slices.
The first batch of Zufanek Borovicka was distilled in January 2011 and was bottled on the 14th of September, 2011.
